First it was black women saying hurtful comments about Gabby Douglas’ hair and now I just read the article above about women calling olympic athletes fat. Really? When will we as women stop all this hating and start supporting each other. I grew up seeing the back stabbing and hating but not understanding why. Now that I am an adult it still makes no sense to me. One would think that such behavior would only be “permissible” during the elementary years but it makes me sad when grown women put each other down. I am trying to raise two young girls to be compassionate, caring and self-confident women. The current trend in our society seems to be that young girls are cute when they feisty and sassy. Whatever happened to women raising their daughters to be classy, polite, smart and strong women instead of back stabbing and self loathing. A woman can be strong without being disrespectful and hateful towards her peers. I was raised by my grandmother and she taught me to always treat others the way I would like to be treated. I would like a world where women were more about building each other up and not trying to pull others down. I have seen women put their peers down out of jealousy and that is just sad. Here is the deal if you see someone doing well in a field you want to do well in, you should probably try to learn from them instead of saying mean and hurtful things about them. This is just another rant from a mom who is trying to raise strong and independent young women in a world that does not seem to value classy women.
