Pizza

Ingredients:

3 cups all-purpose flour

1 package active dry yeast

1 cup warm water (120 to 130 degrees)

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

1 1/2 cup marinara sauce

1 tablespoon dry basil

1 tablespoon dry oregano

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon brown sugar (optional)

1 small onion ( sliced)

2 1/2 cups shredded low sodium mozzarella cheese

Directions:

Combine flour, salt, basil. oregano, black pepper, brown sugar, oil, water and yeast in the exact order in a bread machine mixing bowl. Place bowl back into the bread machine and select the appropriate setting for making bread dough. For mine it takes 1 hour 30 minutes to make my dough and this gives me time to help my daughter with her homework, change a diaper, help my son with his school work as well. The bread machine will beep as you all know, get your pizza pans and slightly grease them. Divide the dough and spread it as you wish and then bake it for about 12 minutes  before adding the marinara sauce, cheese and sliced onion. Place the pizza in the oven for another 10 to 15 minutes. This recipe should yield 2 whole pizzas depending on the size of your pizza pans. Hope you like how it turns out 🙂

 ** NOTE** Pizza night in our house is fun because my two oldest are involved in the process. They get to make their own pizza with some help from me. I love listening to them as they talk about the texture of the dough and how it feels when they are spreading it on the pan. You can turn this into a science lesson as well, by talking about the chemical reaction when water and yeast are mixed together.
