In Memoriam: Navy Machinist’s Mate Fireman Apprentice Bryant L. Davis

Navy Machinist’s Mate Fireman Apprentice Bryant Leroy Davis

Navy Machinist’s Mate Fireman Apprentice Bryant was from Chicago, Illinois. He was stationed on the carrier Kitty Hawk, but his home base was Yokosuka Naval Fleet Activities, Japan. He fell overboard the carrier on November 7, 2001, search and rescue efforts were exhausted and he was declared dead on November 10, 2001. He joined the Navy to get away from the pressures of gang life in Chicago. At the time of his disappearance, Davis was 20 years old and he is survived by his mother Sandra Davis and his sister Paris Davis. Davis was considered a kind, smart and eager learner and He was a man of great faith. He will be remembered for making the ultimate sacrifice and my thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.

  1. I haven’t had much luck locating Bryant’s family. Have you thought about contacting the Navy directly to see how they can help?

    • They will not release any information and I haven’t had much luck with
getting anyone to pass along a message. I ‘ll continue to try. Thanks for your help.

  2. I represent an organization called Home of the Brave Quilts, http://www.homeofthebravequilts.com and we give quilts to families of the fallen who died in the War on Terrorism. I have been unable to obtain any contact information for Bryant’s family and would very much like to give them a quilt. If you can contact me with this information it would be greatly appreciated.
