Electrician’s mate Fireman Apprentice Michael J. Jakes  Jr.

Apprentice Michael J. Jakes was stationed on the Kitty Hawk carrier which was based at the Yokosuka Naval Fleet Activities in Japan. Fireman Apprentice Michael J. Jakes was died from a fatal head injuries sustained when he fell off a bunk, on December 4, 2001 in the Arabian Sea. He was 20 years old at the time of his death and he was from Brooklyn, New York. I couldn’t find any more information on Jakes and his family but I want to thank him for serving his nation.
