Being healthy is something I pride myself on but unfortunately I haven’t done much working out the years to maintain the body I once had before becoming a mom. I had a change of heart during my third and final pregnancy. I discovered that I had gestational diabetes and that made me take a serious look at my diet. Growing up I was always thin and so I didn’t really watch what I ate. I kind of watched what I ate while I was a cadet in college as well as my time in the Army. I used to blame my duties as a mom for not working out or eating healthy but no more. I decided to make time for me each week if I want to get healthy. My husband feels the same and has been very supportive. I now workout 3 to 4 days a week either at home on the elliptical and run on a track down the street from our home. It is turning out to be a family activity now, we all go out for at least an hour most days to run while our children play and socialize. I love the time we are spending together as a  family and it brings me great joy to see my children playing and enjoying themselves. I am still lagging in one major area and that is my eating habits. I love carbs and can’t get enough of them. I have gotten my love of chocolate under control and would love to get my addiction to carbs under control one day soon and I’m sure my love of baking doesn’t help at all. It is a day by day challenge and some days I feel great about the amount of carbs I eat but some days are just plain awful. Hopefully things will get better with time.

  1. I completely feel you on this. Carbs are delicious, but my thighs do not get along with them all that well! :-/ Luckily, with the training you’ll have to do for the half marathon, getting your carbs in will be a good thing! 🙂

your feedback is appreciated!!!
